Retaining Wall Specialists
As retaining wall specialists, most of our work is concrete sleeper and block walls, the two we know best. We also build timber sleeper, sandstone, brick and palisade walls, and we replace old walls that have failed.
One Head Contractor, Start To Finish
Dominic Deegan, our head contractor, quotes your wall, works with the engineer when one is needed and builds it.
What We Take Care Of
- Measure the slope and check the access on site, before we quote.
- Pick the wall that suits the access, your design and your budget.
- Build to the sleeper maker's engineering specs, or to an engineer's design once a wall is over 1.5 m.
- Take out the old wall if there is one, and cart it away.
- Build the new wall with drainage gravel and an ag pipe, a slotted drain pipe, behind it.
What You Take Care Of
- Choose the finish you want: concrete, stone, brick or timber.
- Lodge the development or building approval if your wall needs one. The application asks for your personal details, so it comes from you. We tell you when you need one and walk you through the steps.
Three Things That Decide The Wall
Access
Access is a big one. If a machine can't reach the wall line, the options change. Palisade logs, for example, can be carried in one at a time.
Your Design
Sandstone, concrete sleepers, or a block wall clad in stone. The wall should suit the look you want for the garden.
Your Budget
Timber is usually the lowest cost wall to build. Our cost guide shows what moves the price on the other walls.
Height and load decide the engineering. Over 1.5 m, a wall is built to an engineer's design. Our rules guide explains when you need approval.
Homes Only, For Now
We build for homeowners: backyards, front yards and side passages. We're staying out of commercial work for now, because on long commercial runs the rates come down and the quality tends to follow.
